Todays Lesson.
Luke 8:22-25
Ah yes, the storm with Jesus asleep in the back of the boat. We've heard it, right? It's easy to say, "I know Jesus is there for me". Then we kind of blow it off and wonder why we still have so many problems. Jesus is there for us. Big problems or small or anytime. The story says that He is in the back of the boat. Really that's just saying that He's where we can find Him when we need Him. And He really doesn't want us to wait for the big storms. He's there for us whenever and wherever we need Him. Folks go to Him today. Start relying on Him today. And experience the calm and peace after your storms.
Read Acts 2:22-36.
This is Peter's telling of who Jesus is to the masses that just witnessed the Pentecost. It seems a familiar story to us. We all know it. Some if not most of us have heard it all our lives. It may even seem a bit boring to some. But what if we could hear it the way that first group heard it? Would it seem fantastic? Miraculous even? Especially in the light of what they just witnessed. The tounges of fire and the believers witnessing in the languages from around the world. Would that make it easier to swallow? Remember with each new day God gives us new challenges. New ways to serve and yes new ways to love. This message is anything but old and boring. We can make it fresh and alive every new day.

Here we are in the middle of what the Church calls the, "long green season". Summer is about half gone and we start to long for cooler weather. We can practically see the pumpkins, turkeys, and Christmas trees on the horizon. But what about today? As we long to get to those other important times of the year we forget the today's. Then we may start to realize that we may not have many Christmases or springs left. What can we do today? How can we serve our families, our communities, ourselves or even our God and our Church? There are many little ways we can be of service to others. Look for one today. Let's spread a little Jesus and make today as important as all those other days.
